As the sun descends over the High Atlas Mountains, the Agafay Desert 30 minutes from Marrakech becomes one of the most atmospheric and romantic places on the planet. Our evening experience in the Agafay combines a sunset camel ride, a lavish Berber dinner in a luxury camp, live traditional music, and the most extraordinary stargazing sky you'll find close to any major city in the world.
Your adventure begins with hotel pickup in the late afternoon, arriving at the desert camp in time for the magical golden hour. Mount your dromedary for a 30-minute sunset ride through the rocky desert as the Atlas Mountains glow pink and orange behind you — photographs from this moment are absolutely spectacular.
As darkness falls, your Berber hosts welcome you with mint tea and traditional dried fruits around the campfire. The desert camp is a masterpiece of traditional Moroccan tent architecture — richly decorated with kilim carpets, embroidered cushions, lanterns, and brass tea services. A full traditional Moroccan feast is served: Moroccan salads, slow-cooked lamb tagine, couscous, and a spread of pastries and sweets.
After dinner, live Gnawa and Berber musicians perform around the fire, and the entertainment builds as traditional drummers and dancers join in. Later, your guide introduces you to the extraordinary night sky — with minimal light pollution, the Agafay reveals thousands of stars invisible from the city. An evening that combines the best of Moroccan culture, cuisine, music, and nature in one unforgettable experience.
Your adventure begins with pickup from your Marrakech hotel.
